Plant Wars 2016 |
Time: Feb 20, 2016 (08:30 AM) |
Location: Garden Dr. and Lem Morrison Avenue |
Details: All ages are invited to join the Davis Arboretum in our continued efforts to improve our surroundings. The Arboretum staff will be teaming up with the Student Government Association, Alabama’s Invasive Plant Council, and members of the University and community to kick off efforts to improve the Town Creek Watershed. The Arboretum Branch of Town Creek begins in the Garden of Memory just across the street from the Arboretum. We will be removing non-native invasive plant species in order to set the stage for a renovation that will benefit the garden and all our downstream neighbors. Come out at 8:30 AM Saturday morning February 20th. Bring water bottles, muck boots, waders, gloves, snips, loppers, picks and whatever else you like to use to battle the typical list of alien species found in Auburn. For safety, no power tools please. We will clean up the privet, popcorn trees, monkey grass, and yellow flag iris, among others that are crowding the garden. Victory will be celebrated with a pizza lunch for all the weed warriors that join us on the front lines.
