Handel constructed a smooth area-preserving diffeomorphism of the plane with a minimal R.H. Bing's pseudo-circle. His example has been believed to be of simple dynamics, and it has a well defined rotation number. We show, however, that Handel's construction gives a weakly mixing, uniformly rigid, minimal system. The first example of a system with these three properties was given by Glasner and Maon in 1989, but ours seems to be the first such planar 1-dimensional example. This is joint work with P. Oprocha.
