Abstract:  By a Hausdorff arc we mean a compact connected Hausdorff space with exactly two non-cutpoints.  Suppose that each of A and B is a Hausdorff arc and M is a hereditarily indecomposable subcontinuum of A×B.  Then M is a metric continuum and each of its projections onto A and B are metric arcs.
