Title: An Introduction to Quantum Monte-Carlo Algorithm

Abstract: Quantum computing is getting more and more attention these days as a great deal of progress has been done in engineering on the basic components of what a quantum computer could accomplish. Even if the first available online quantum computers do not deliver the expected and highly anticipated quantum advantage yet, potential applications to finance, machine learning, and chemistry are quite promising, hence the extensive attention to quantum computing nowadays. In this talk, I will explain the main principles of quantum computing, show some basic examples of quantum algorithms, and in particular, explain the principle of the Quantum Monte-Carlo algorithm, an algorithm that can provide a quadratic speed-up compared to the classical Monte-Carlo methods.
