Title: Understanding COVID-19 Data using SIR with an Introduction to Bayesian Analysis
Abstract: The main purpose of this talk is to introduce Bayesian analysis. Most statistical courses offered fall in the category of the frequentist approach. The Bayesian approach conducts data analysis with a different philosophy. The distinction between them can be traced back to the interpretation of what is probability. We will introduce prior distribution, posterior distribution, Markov Chain Monte Carlo among others. As an example, we discuss how to analyze COVID-19 data using susceptible-infectious-recovered (SIR) model in a Bayesian framework.
