DMS's Cao receives funding from the Department of Energy
Dr. Yanzhao Cao has received funding from the Department of Energy through the highly competitive AI for Science program for the project "DyGenAI: Dynamic Generative Artificial Intelligence for Prediction and Control of High-Dimensional Nonlinear Complex Systems." This collaborative project is led by Dr. Guannan Zhang from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, also an affiliate faculty member of DMS. Yanzhao's share of the award is $450,000.
This project transforms static generative AI models into dynamic ones that integrate physical principles with real-time data to address challenges like energy distribution and extreme event monitoring. This award highlights AI's growing role in applied mathematics to solve complex scientific problems. For more information, the list of projects funded by DOE AI for Science can be found here.
Congratulations, Yanzhao!
