Ready to be a College Student?
-
Decide if online, asynchronous college classes are a good fit for you.
-
Talk to your high school counselor about dual enrollment at your school. You'll need their support after you apply—get their email and phone number.
-
Check our application deadlines chart to know when you should apply. Hint: Apply for the semester you plan to take your first class.
-
Submit your new student application on our website using a personal email (not your school email).
-
Attention parents! Don’t use your email to sign up. Have your student use their email, and you can add yours later in the application.
-
-
Pay the $50 application fee (waivers available in application).
-
Inside the application, send your counselor a request for:
-
A Digital Letter of Support
-
Your official transcript
-
-
If you meet our criteria and have a completed application, you will receive your Next Steps beginning October 20.
-
Beginning October 20, look for a Next Steps email with instructions for:
-
Paying your $250 enrollment deposit (non-refundable and goes toward first-semester tuition)
-
Activating your Auburn account
-
Completing our Student Orientation and signing up for classes
-
-
Wait 24-48 hours for your enrollment deposit to process. Then check your Auburn email for info about the online Student Orientation in Canvas.
-
Complete the Student Orientation to learn how to use Canvas and register for classes as a first-time student.
-
Hint: When you get to register for classes depends on when you submit your enrollment deposit and complete the Student Orientation, so don’t delay.

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm a parent. Should I put my email address when signing up?
Students should use their own email address when filling out an application. Also, it is best to avoid using high school email addresses. Don’t worry! There will be a place on the application to list parent/guardian email addresses, so you will be kept in the loop.
Does it matter what term I select or when I submit my application?
Yes. By selecting an application term, you are declaring the term that you plan to begin taking Auburn First classes. Students must take a class in their application term to register for classes in a future term.
I’m a current student. Will I need to re-apply every semester?
Generally, no. First-time students only need to be re-admitted when they:
-
Do not enroll in any Auburn First courses for the term they were admitted.
-
Drop their entire schedule before the first drop deadline (i.e., receive a tuition refund and no grade assignment on their Auburn transcript).
This does not apply to students who withdraw from their entire schedule and receive a W on their Auburn transcript. Additionally, this only applies to students who are in their first semester!
Do I need to submit separate applications for Summer and Fall if I want to do both?
No. When filling out an application, select the term that you will begin taking classes. Registration for Summer and Fall classes is concurrent. If you are applying for a Summer term, you will also be able to register for Fall classes.
Is the $50 application fee refundable?
No. The application fee cannot be refunded once paid. If you have applied before, please contact aufirst@auburn.edu before applying again.
Do I need to have my application materials ready?
No. When you are filling out the application, you will send an automated request directly to your counselor to complete your digital Letter of Support and upload your official transcript.
How do I know if I will be accepted?
As long as their application is complete with their official transcript and Digital Letter of Support, Spring 2026 applicants who meet our GPA and grade level requirements will receive their Next Steps on March 20 with further instructions. Applicants who do not meet our admission criteria or have an incomplete application will not be considered.
