NROTC Preparatory Program (NPP)

General

The NROTC Preparatory Program (NPP) Scholarship is designed to give highly motivated and exceptional JROTC cadets an opportunity to gain college experience and strengthen fundamental areas of study. Students selected for the NPP Scholarship will receive one year's tuition paid from Auburn University and will be required to study a Tier 1 or Tier 2 major. If the student performs well during this year, they will automatically be granted the 4-Year NROTC Scholarship by the U.S. Navy. Selected students will be required to attend New Student Indoctrination (NSI) before starting the preparatory year at Auburn University. **NOTE: Auburn University pays tuition and fees but not room and board.

Application

The following forms must be completed by **December 15, 2021,** to be considered for the NPP Scholarship at a priority level. Earlier application submission may be subject to early interviews and potential earlier results for acceptance. Therefore, all applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early. Applications will still be accepted up to the final deadline of January 31, 2022, but will not be considered priority. All applications will be reviewed for eligibility by the Professor of Naval Science, and eligible applications will be forwarded to Auburn University) for final selection. Instructions for filling out the forms can be found on page one of the NROTC Preparatory Program Scholarship Application.

All applicants must apply to Auburn University for admission before applying for the NPP Program. For information on applying to Auburn University, please view Auburn's applicant webpage.

**If you would like to apply, but will not be able to submit all required documents by December 15, 2021, please email nrotc@auburn.edu to request an application extension and provide an anticipated completion date.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the NROTC Preparatory Program (NPP) Scholarship, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

  1. U.S. citizen.
  2. Resident of the State of Alabama.
  3. At least 17 years old but not greater than 22 years old prior to the beginning of the college academic year of intended enrollment.
  4. High school senior.
  5. A member of the high school’s JROTC program.
  6. No moral obligations or personal convictions that will prevent bearing of arms and supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic or to taking an oath to perform such acts.
  7. Accepted for admission as a full-time student at AU.
  8. Application filed and completed for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file in AU’s Office of Financial Aid.
  9. Must have successfully completed high school algebra with a grade of “C” or higher.

Once the preparatory year is complete, the student will automatically pick up a 4 Year NROTC Scholarship if the following conditions are met:
