Science Cafe

What: COSAM Outreach invites you to join us for a presentation by Dr. Christine Schnittka, author of Teaching STEAM Through Hands-On Crafts. What do beer, paper, bread, and candles have in common? How about soap, yarn, cheese, and indigo dye? How did our ancestors thrive before these traditional crafts and folk technologies were invented? Listen to some historical stories and learn the science embedded in this ancient “maker movement.” Learn how YOU TOO can make important, vital things by hand. Show off your folk engineering knowledge and learn more about our crafting history! Books will be available for purchase and signing.
