"A Night in New Orleans"

Time: Apr 14, 2012 (06:00 PM)
Location: Donald E. Davis Arboretum

Details:
Night in New Orleans

The Auburn University College of Sciences and Mathematics will hold a benefit for the Donald E. Davis Arboretum Saturday, April 14, at 6 p.m. “A Night in New Orleans” will be held at the arboretum and will include a sit-down dinner of traditional New Orleans fare, music, entertainment and a silent auction.

Each year, the Donald E. Davis Arboretum welcomes hundreds of local students for alternative classroom hands-on experiences; last year alone, the arboretum hosted more than 2,500 kindergarten through twelfth-grade students. In addition, the colleges across campus make extensive use of the arboretum each semester through classes, projects and research.

The night will honor such outreach efforts, while raising funds to help ensure Auburn is able to preserve its cherished arboretum for generations to come.

“Our hope is that the funds raised by the event will help to provide a way for the arboretum to better serve the growing needs of the university, the community and the state at large,” Kim McCurdy, event coordinator, said. “With the number of students who came to the arboretum to experience hands-on what they learn in the classroom last year, we can only expect those numbers to increase. We need to be prepared.”

Donors will be listed in one of four designations. Patriarch donors who give $5,000 will receive premium seating and parking as well as a prominent program listing and special recognition during the night. These donors will also have four tables of eight reserved for them. With a $2,500 gift, Descendant donors will have three tables reserved and also receive parking and a prominent program listing. Heir donors will receive one table and a program listing with a donation of $1,000. Individual tickets are also available and these donors will be designated as Kin. They will enjoy the dinner and entertainment the night has to offer for a donation of $100.

Benefactors who wish to donate but not attend may also make a 100 percent tax-deductible donation. Checks should be made out to Auburn University Foundation and sent to the College of Sciences and Mathematics Office of Development at 315 Roosevelt Concourse, Auburn, Ala. 36849. Credit cards also may be used by calling (334) 844-2931.
