Andrew Gillespie serves as the senior international officer for Auburn and is responsible for coordinating Auburn’s efforts in internationalizing the University’s missions. Gillespie oversees international student and scholar immigration services, study abroad, the International Cultural Center, and the Global Teaching Academy. He also spearheads campus-based and overseas global programming for faculty and students, including Auburn’s Korea Center and King Sejong Institute, Auburn’s Taiwan Language and Culture Center, internationalization strategic planning and overseas partnerships, and international student health and travel insurance.
Gillespie is a professor of forestry and wildlife sciences and a Fulbright Scholar. He has researched and published over 100 refereed journal articles, book chapters, and proceedings papers in alternative food and fiber production systems in developed and developing countries, focusing on sustainability. He completed a joint undergraduate degree from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University, a master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire, and a doctoral degree from Purdue University. Before coming to Auburn, Gillespie was a professor of forestry and associate dean for international programs at Purdue.
