Dr. Mark DeGoti is an associate professor of music, and now serves as Auburn University’s liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, or SACSCOC, the institution’s regional accrediting body. Prior to this appointment, DeGoti served as chair of assessment in the department of music and helped coordinate the department’s reaccreditation report for fall 2021 with the National Association of Schools of Music. In addition to his departmental service, DeGoti has served on several university committees focused on improving assessment, including the Core Curriculum and General Education Committees, the Meta-Assessment Institute and he oversees the university’s Academic Honesty and ACHE processes. Working with faculty and staff to implement data-informed changes and curricular improvements, DeGoti looks forward to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and success through the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
DeGoti joined the music faculty in 2010 and taught applied trumpet and directed the AU Trumpet Ensemble. He has performed in orchestras and as a soloist on five different continents and has enjoyed years of student success in the trumpet studio. Dr. DeGoti received a Doctor of Music and a Master of Music at Indiana University. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance and Music Theory from the University of Michigan. He lives in Auburn with his wife and two children.
