Director, Academic Events

With over 20 years of experience in communications, marketing, and design at Auburn, Tracey Spates Newell is the director of academic events in the Provost’s Office. An award-winning graphic designer and 1991 Auburn graduate, Newell develops and implements creative and logistical visions for the Provost’s Office strategic events, including commencement designed to advance faculty and staff success while promoting unit-level activities supporting Auburn’s mission.

Newell lives with her husband, daughter, and two sons in Opelika, Alabama. Her daughter earned her master’s in higher education at Auburn in the fall of 2022.
