Undergraduate students should place their tassel to the right of the mortarboard (cap). You will be instructed to move it to the left side near the end of the ceremony.

Graduate students should wear the tassel on the left side of the cap.

Honor Cords

The university issues gold honor cords to any undergraduate students who are potentially eligible for Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, or Summa Cum Laude. Issuance of an honor cord does not confirm a final certification of graduate honors on your diploma or transcript. Official honor certification is finalized after the commencement ceremonies once the degree audit is complete. You can read more about graduation honors here.

Graduates who should receive their honor cords can ask for one at the bookstore when they pick up their regalia.
