Welcome to Auburn University’s Syllabus Success website. This site is intended to provide the campus community with numerous resources and information related to course syllabi.
Auburn is in the process of improving the management and consistency of course syllabi across campus. Course syllabi are one of the most important tools faculty use to communicate course expectations to students. They outline course goals, learning outcomes, grading policies, assessments, and student responsibilities. Having a management system for course syllabi can help provide faculty with an easier way to edit, manage, and upload their syllabi.
After researching peer institutions, we learned that Auburn is one of the few universities that does NOT have a syllabus management system. We also learned that our peers almost exclusively use Simple Syllabus as their software solution. This is likely because Simple Syllabus provides an extremely customizable system along with unparalleled technical support and customer service. They are truly the gold standard. With that in mind, Auburn is partnering with Simple Syllabus to implement a syllabus management system that works best for our students and faculty in the coming months. Adopting Simple Syllabus is an Institutional Effectiveness effort to support the Academic Standards Committee which will ultimately improve internal processes, external reporting, and put us in good company with our peers.
