To maintain continuity in Auburn’s academic work, certain existing academic committees will continue their responsibilities for the time being. Relevant committee chairs have been informed and asked to notify members accordingly. As the transition proceeds, the name, composition, structure, scope, function, and other aspects of these particular committees will be reviewed and revised as needed to align with Board policy and the University’s new academic advisory framework.
Patent and Invention Disclosure Committee
The committee is charged with providing advice and recommendations as needed by the Office of Technology Transfer and the Vice President for Research on issues such as the technical merit and commercial potential of technology disclosures. The committee chair is elected by the members of the committee at the first meeting.
Membership
The Patent and Invention Disclosure Committee shall be composed of 10 members:
- Faculty:
- Nine faculty members representing key areas of University research such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Sciences and Mathematics, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, as well as representation from faculty with expertise in areas such as Marketing and Economics.
- Continuing:
- Director of Technology Transfer
Restrictions:
- The chair of the committee shall be elected by the committee from one of the nine faculty members.
- Members shall serve three-year rotating terms.
