Interested in hearing what it is like to conduct a project on the International Space Station (ISS)? Lori Scott, a graduate student in the Department of Physics, will share her experience working on her doctoral project that took place on the ISS.

Scott will speak at the Discover Auburn Lecture Series on February 13 at 3 p.m. Her lecture, Dusty Plasmas on the International Space Station, will take place in the Special Collections Department of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

The experiment examined the thermal properties of dust particles in a plasma environment and how the plasma parameters change in the Plasma Kristall-4, or PK-4, dusty plasma laboratory, which is aboard the ISS.

Scott works as part of a 12-scientist team including members from Baylor University and Wittenberg University. The team works in collaboration with the German Center for Air and Space, European Space Agency, and ROSCOSMOS, the Russian Space Agency.

The Discover Auburn Lecture Series features programs on Auburn University research, history and other topics of interest. It is co-sponsored by the Auburn University Libraries, the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities and the Auburn University Bookstore.
