DESTINATION STEM
Come back to find out the date for this fun experience in 2025
Destination STEM is an interactive experience where sixth through ninth grade students — mostly from rural and under-resourced schools — explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Students enjoy the freedom to see, touch, hear and smell the many wonders of science!
Students have a chance to learn about the Auburn University campus and the incredible opportunities offered through the College of Sciences and Mathematics and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
Schools are allotted approximately two hours for students to see all the exhibits (invited schools may register for time slots between 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., central time zone).
In Fall 2024, more than 900 students from rural Alabama schools participated in the fourth Destination STEM event. A few examples of the 50+ exhibits at past Destination STEM events:
- Snakes, Lizards and Turtles, OH MY – Live Animal Exhibits
- See the Micro World – Microscope Demos
- Explore Out Native Alabama –Native Plant Exhibits
- The Secrets of Specimens – Museum Specimens and the Life of a Curator
- Phenomenal Physics – Join the Momentum!
- Radical Reactions – Bioluminescence and Spectroscopy with AU’s Chemistry and Biochemistry Department will be lit!
- Bodacious Biology – From marine animal development to the structure of a virus, see the world through the eyes of a biologist!
- Geosciences Rocks – Come see what the world is made of!
- Puzzling puzzles with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
- C.O.R.E. Zone – Drive assorted robots and see 3-D printer stations
