But never before has an Olympic-caliber team called the Plains their home—until now. USA Team Handball and the university forged a partnernship and residency program last summer, moving both the men's and women's teams to Auburn. Now, with the 2016 Rio de Janiero Olympic Games just two years away, the teams are training and competing inside Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum and around the world.
The key ingredient to the partnership is the involvement of Auburn's School of Kinesiology. The athletes have daily access to faculty expertise in areas such as biomechanics and performance enhancement, and the brand-new facilities offer an opportunity to raise their game to the next level.
