Looking Forward

In spite of the unprecedented state of the world, the Office of Information Technology closed out a strong year as 2020 came to an end, but we have already started working full force to make 2021 even better. The coming months will hold many projects, but we wanted to highlight a few that are already underway.

Salesforce

In 2019, Auburn selected Salesforce as the vendor for a campus CRM system. In 2020, we identified several sub-projects that are needed to bring the system to its full potential on campus. 2021 will bring continued work on Phase 2 efforts for data warehousing and the Salesforce Academic Organization as well as Phase 1 work on marketing, data governance, and master data management.

Various units across Auburn have their own specific apps, but we recognized that students and parents need a centralized location for the majority of data. A committee selected a vendor in 2020 and started the procurement process. 2021 should bring a completion of the procurement and the first steps toward populating the data for implementation.

Apple Pay

Many faculty, staff, and students will be happy to carry one less thing around campus as we plan to implement Apple Pay into our point of sale systems during the summer of 2021.

Cloud Migration

In an effort to free up resources and better serve the campus, several systems will be moved to cloud-based hosting in 2021. Two of the most notable systems involved in this change will be WordPress hosted websites as well as all Banner hosted data.
