Simple Syllabus provides an extremely customizable system along with unparalleled technical support and customer service. With that in mind, Auburn is partnering with Simple Syllabus to implement a syllabus management system that works best for our students and faculty in the coming months
Some standardization through templates can help provide consistency across various course sections, departments or programs, colleges, and even at the university level. Using templates also allows for pre-populated fields which will ultimately help faculty save time and shift their focus to teaching.
This can include ADA compliance, Title IX compliance, as well as other institutional policies and conduct statements. Having a build-in ADA compliance checker along with pre-populated policy statement recommendations will help protect faculty while accurately informing students of policies and procedures.
Course syllabi can help programs and institutions demonstrate student learning outcomes, coherence of study, assessment and curriculum mapping, dissemination of academic policies, and academic rigor. Having a syllabus management system will help streamline accreditation reporting while ensuring compliance across multiple agencies.
A syllabus management system provides better visibility to students which will help determine transferability of course credits with greater ease.
Course syllabi spell out course objectives and expectations for students. Behind AU login credentials, a syllabus management system can also help provide our students better syllabi visibility – which will help them make informed decisions about their course selections and workloads. This benefit is in direct response to the work SGA has done over the last year to improve transparency.
All syllabi will require AU login credentials; certain information will be de-identified where appropriate; course content will not be searchable by keyword.
Simple Syllabus provides a user-friendly interface. It also allows for easy drag/drop editing. It allows for various set ups (roles, options) to provide autonomy and faculty ownership. Lastly, it provides seamless integration with Canvas and Banner.
