Process
In spring 2025, Auburn University initiated a review of the Core, led by both a steering and an advisory working committee. For fall 2025, the committee’s work primarily consisted of gathering data to understand how the core currently operated and how the campus community interacted with the core. In spring 2026, the committees analyzed the data collected held listening sessions with the campus community. Over summer 2026, the review process continued and responded to the Board Policy on Academic Curriculum, Courses, Syllabi, and Core Educational Requirements, adopted on June 5th, 2026. Throughout fall 2026, the committee will share updates through a series of presentations and a written report. The campus community will have opportunities to share feedback throughout the fall as well. The steering and an advisory working committees will continue their work in fall 2026 and spring 2027 to identify opportunities for improving the core and the distinctly auburn experience, with the goal of implementing these changes through fall 2027 and fall 2028. Information will be shared in this space as the review process carries forward.
