AU Math Placement

AU Students Enrolled Summer/Fall 2022 or Later

For students who enroll at Auburn in Summer 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023, mathematics course placement is determined by the following:

  • ALEKS Math Placement Assessment score
  • ACT/SAT Math Subsection scores
  • Credit awarded from AP/IB test scores
  • College credit earned through dual enrollment or transfer credit

If a student does not have scores or college credit for any of the assessment methods below, they will only be allowed to register for MATH 1000 and will have to take the appropriate set of prerequisite courses to meet their mathematics course(s) requirement for their major. For specific information about various mathematics courses and CORE mathematics requirements, please refer to the: Auburn Bulletin

NOTE: For most students who enroll at Auburn in Summer/Fall 2023 or later, mathematics course placement will be determined by ALEKS Math Placement Assessment.  ACT/SAT scores will no longer be considered.  Incoming students must complete the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment before attending Camp War Eagle.  Please visit aub.ie/futuremathplacement for information about mathematics course placement effective Summer 2023.

NOTE: If you enrolled at Auburn prior to Summer/Fall 2022, please visit aub.ie/oldmathplacement for information about mathematics course placement.
