Emma Snyder – 2022 Dean’s Medal (Mathematics and Statistics)
Emma will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Business. She will also graduate with a University Honors Scholar distinction as a member of the Auburn University Honors College. During her time at Auburn, she has received the Spirit of Auburn Presidential Scholarship, the John W. and Rosemary K. Brown Annual Scholarship, and the Yates Award from Phi Kappa Phi.
Off campus, Emma spends a lot of time serving at her church on its production team. This has given her multiple opportunities to learn a lot about different technology and some behind-the-scenes processes of stage performances, such as how to use a lights console and what goes into choosing certain camera angles for filming a church service. Emma also loves art and enjoys drawing. Recently, she even taught herself how to crochet.
Emma would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her throughout her pursuit of her degree and for always believing in her and pushing her to do her best. Emma is also so grateful to every professor she’s had during her time at Auburn University, and the department staff as well, for all the growth opportunities and the chance to learn so much about a subject that she cares for so deeply. She even hopes to devote herself to teaching math to others, the way she is so grateful to have been taught.
Following graduation, Emma plans to pursue teacher certification to enter the classroom soon as a mathematics educator.
