Daniel Zalik Fellowship has been established

The Zalik Foundation Fund on behalf of Helen and David Zalik has established an endowment for the purpose of providing fellowships for graduate students in our department. The fellowship, known as the Daniel Zalik Fellowship, will be awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence as determined by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics Graduate Studies Committee.

Daniel Zalik Biographical Information

Daniel Zalik was an extraordinary individual whose life's work centered around creating positive change and improving the world. Born in Israel, Daniel moved to Auburn, AL, as a child, carrying with him a hopeful vision for a future full of opportunities. He graduated from Auburn with a degree in Mathematics. Daniel recognized the potential of technology to address global issues, such as hunger and conflict. As a global consultant, he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by marginalized communities and dedicated himself to leveraging technology to connect and provide resources to remote areas. Daniel's deep belief in the inherent value and dignity of every human life led him to become a leader for positive change. Through his love, generosity, and unwavering belief in the potential of all people, Daniel touched the lives of many individuals who testify to the transformative impact he had on them.

Daniel’s pioneering work integrated scientific data and analysis into international humanitarian relief efforts, utilizing technology to design effective plans and allocate resources efficiently. As a global consultant and in his work with the United Nations World Food Programme, he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by marginalized communities and dedicated himself to leveraging technology to connect and provide resources to remote areas.
