Victoria Cover, a sophomore majoring in biochemistry, was one of only 18 students selected to attend this year’s American Chemistry Society (ACS) Leadership Institute from Jan. 26 through 28 in Atlanta. Cover was the only student from Auburn University invited.

Chandana Mitra, an associate professor in the Department of Geosciences at Auburn University, has been elected as an American Association of Geographers (AAG) Fellow. AAG is a nonprofit scientific and educational society that advances the understanding, study and importance of geography and related fields.

New assistant dean of biomedical sciences seeks to elevate the student experience

Elizabeth “Beth” Hiltbold Schwartz, a proud Auburn alum, is an associate professor at Auburn University in the Department of Biological Sciences and the department’s Undergraduate Program Officer since 2019. Now, her role will expand with a newly created position, assistant dean of biomedical sciences for the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM).

Olga Harrington Pinto, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics, was granted access to the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) where she calculated the CO2 detection for the first time from Centaur 39P/Oterma.
