Senate Committees

Members of Senate committees are responsible for initiating projects, reviewing policies, and making recommendations related to their committee’s charge. Senate committees provide an annual report to the Senate executive committee and may bring motions to the Senate floor for the body to debate and vote on.

University Committees

University committees bring together faculty, staff, students, and administrators to address a variety of campus-wide functions and issues. While University Committees are under the purview of the central administration, the Senate may place items on any University committee’s agenda and request that the Senate body be apprised of the committee’s activities.

Faculty Participation in University Governance

Faculty members at Auburn University are involved to a significant degree in the formulation and review of institutional policies which affect the academic and professional welfare of the University and the Faculty. This involvement is achieved primarily through the organizations of the University Faculty and the University Senate, which are described in the University Faculty Constitution and the University Senate Constitution found in chapter 2 of the Faculty Handbook. University policy concerning the academic functioning of the University is adopted with the participation of the elected representatives of the University Faculty.
