Looking Forward

The Office of Information Technology closed out a strong year as 2019 came to an end, but we have already started working full force to make 2020 even better. The coming months will hold many projects, but we wanted to highlight a few that are already underway.

Salesforce

In 2019, campus leadership selected Salesforce as the vendor for a campus-wide Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Once in place, Salesforce will allow administrators to better understand students and communicate with them more effectively. Implementing a system like this is not a simple task, but some components will be in use by the end of 2020.

Job Reclassification

As part as a joint effort with Human Resources, OIT spent a great deal of time reviewing all job positions and duties and started the process of reclassifying them to better align with the industry standard. The new classification will be implemented in 2020 and will allow Auburn to be more competitive in job postings which we anticipate will bring even greater talent and support to campus.

Data Warehouse

Auburn has created a model, started the vendor search, and selcted a vendor for a data warehouse. Throughout 2020, our Enterprise and Project Management teams will work to curate the new system to meet Auburn's needs while also aggregating all of the data it will hold. Once the data warehouse is implemented, authorized Auburn personnel will have a centralized, secure location to access timely and accurate data as they need it.

Ongoing Training & Growth

Several efforts are already underway to provide training growth to employees in OIT and across campus. The Auburn Young Professionals will continue to convene with the assistance of the Office of Professional and Continuing Education. The Cybersecurity team is bringing in support to provide additional awareness training across campus. The Project Management Office will provide their PM101 and PM 102 training classes again. We expect further opportunities to arise throughout the year, and we hope to continue doing our part to strengthen the Auburn community.
