Summer Engineering Enrichment (Summer Bridge)
June 1 – June 20, 2025
College Freshmen, For Incoming Engineering Students
The Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence annual Summer Engineering Enrichment Program is an intensive three-week program for incoming under-represented Auburn University freshmen majoring in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering to prepare them for freshmen level pre-engineering courses. The program will be staffed by Auburn University faculty, graduate teaching assistants, counselors, and center administrators.
The aim of the program is to
- Increase students’ math, science and programming skills
- Expose students to the 11 engineering majors and Auburn campus resources and allow them to do a personal exploration of their major
- Develop/improve students’ critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, time management and study skills
- Introduce the students to a network of faculty, staff, administrators and fellow underrepresented engineering students
Eligibility
- Must be a member of a group traditionally underrepresented in engineering
- Must be a graduating high school senior admitted to Auburn University's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering for Fall 2025
- Must have attended a Camp War Eagle session prior to June 1, 2025
- Must submit completed application package by May 9, 2025
Application information
- Electronic submission of application, two letters of recommendation, high school transcript and a 750-word essay should be submitted at aep@eng.auburn.edu no later than May 9, 2025.
- Two letters of recommendation must include one from school administrator, teacher, or counselor, and one from an employer or community leader sent electronically.
Financial Support
The materials for the program will be paid by the Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence.
HOUSING:
Campers will reside in 191 College. They are designed in suites consisting of two double-occupancy rooms connected by a bathroom. Campers will need to provide their own linens and towels.
MEALS:
Meals will be provided at The Edge at Central Dining. All dietary restrictions and allergies are taken into consideration for each meal.
FACILITIES:
This camp will primarily use the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center, as well as other College of Engineering facilities.
Applications
Applications will open on December 10, 2024 at 9AM and close on May 9, 2025, unless maximum capacity is reached before then. Please read eligibility requirements on the Overview tab before applying.
Camp includes the following items:
- On campus housing
- All meals, snacks and drinks while at camp
- Program instruction, materials and equipment
- Transportation to and from off-campus field-trip sites
- Recreational activities
What to Bring to Camp:
Please pack lightly – but do not forget to bring bedding, a towel, and toiletries.
Cash or debit cards are optional. Participant MUST be responsible for these items!
Dorm Room:
- XL twin sheets, thick blanket and pillow
- Mattress pad/mattress cover
- Alarm Clock
- Phone Charger
- Dorm lamp
- Power outlet strip
- Laundry hamper/laundry basket
- Cleaning supplies (bathroom cleaner, broom, Swiffer, etc.)
- Trash can/trash bags for room
- Hangers
Toiletries:
- Shampoo/Conditioner
- Body Wash, Soap, Deodorant
- Toothbrush and Toothpaste
- Bath and Face Towels
- Hairbrush
Clothing & Shoes:
- T-shirts: Loose fitting, tank tops must have straps three fingers wide and cover all undergarments
- Shorts: No more than 3 inches above the knee
- Three pairs of jeans/long pants
- Two pairs of khaki pants
- Underwear
- Socks
- Pajamas
- Tennis Shoes: We walk up to 6 miles daily!
- Closed toed shoes – must be worn everyday
- Sweatshirt or Jacket
- Dress up Outfit: Business Attire (e.g.: Suit, button down with a tie, dress, skirt, pants, blouse)
- Rain Jacket/poncho and Umbrella
- Swimsuit: For girls, a modest one piece swimsuit. For boys, no speedos or jammers.
- Flip-flops or Water Shoes: For the shower/pool

- Bug spray/Sunscreen
- Beach Towel: For the pool
