Access and Affordability Scholarships

Select need-based scholarships are awarded to Alabama residents and are renewable for four years for first-year students and for two years for transfer students. First-year students must enroll summer or fall immediately following high school graduation to receive consideration.* Transfer students must enroll summer or fall to receive consideration.   

Consideration 

• Incoming students accepted for admission by early February receive automatic consideration. A scholarship application is not required. 
• Consideration is based on financial need and high school GPA for first-year students or transfer GPA for transfer students. 
• Financial need is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)**, which must be received by Auburn. Students selected for financial need verification are not eligible for need-based scholarships if the verification process is incomplete. 
• A minimum 3.0 high school GPA for first-year students or a minimum 3.0 transfer GPA for transfer students is required for consideration. 
• Additional consideration is given to first-generation college students and students from highly rural counties or underserved areas in Alabama. 

Awards 

• Scholarships are awarded competitively. Consideration does not guarantee an award. 
• The award amount varies. 
• Students may receive a select need-based scholarship in addition to other scholarships awarded. 
• Select need-based scholarships are awarded beginning mid-January, monthly through mid-March, and recipients are notified by email to their Auburn email account.

Awarded: Beginning mid-January and monthly through mid-March
Amount: $1,500 for one year

Board of Trustees Scholarships are awarded among eligible Alabama residents who complete the scholarship application through the Auburn University Scholarship Opportunity Manager (AUSOM). Students must complete the scholarship application through AUSOM by the February 14 scholarship priority date.

• Students must have a minimum 3.0 high school, transfer, or cumulative AU GPA, depending on current enrollment status.
• Students must demonstrate financial need by February 14 through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).*
• Students must be an undergraduate student pursuing a first degree. 

**The FAFSA is the only form a student is required to complete to be considered for student assistance from any of the Title IV, HEA programs except for information needed to ensure the student’s eligibility for such assistance (e.g., information needed to complete verification or to demonstrate compliance with the student eligibility provisions of the HEA and the regulations). Awarded: Beginning mid-January and monthly through mid-March
Amount: $5,000 for one year

Coca-Cola First-Generation Annual Scholarship will be awarded among first-year Alabama resident students accepted for admission by early February, based on available funding. Consideration does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded.

• First-year students must have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA.
• Incoming students must demonstrate financial need through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* and must be a first-generation college student.

Awarded: Beginning mid-January and monthly through mid-March
Amount: $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year) for first-year students or $10,000 over two years ($5,000 per year) for transfer students in the most recent entering class

Ever To Conquer Scholarships will be awarded among eligible incoming Alabama resident students accepted for admission by early March, based on available funding. Consideration does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded.

• First-year students must have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA. Transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA.
• Incoming students must demonstrate financial need through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).*
• The award amount may vary year to year based on the number of eligible students.

To receive scholarship funds, students must enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours each term by the last day to add courses for the term (the 15^th class day). Scholarship funds are applied as a credit to the student’s university billing account at the amount indicated in the scholarship award notification. Scholarship awards are divided equally between fall and spring semester and disbursed a maximum of 10 days before the semester begins.

Students who are unable to enroll at Auburn for an expected term for any reason should contact the Office of University Scholarships. Exceptions are granted for students who obtain a medical resignation or military withdrawal or participate in the Cooperative Education Program. Students who obtain a medical resignation or military withdrawal or participate in the Cooperative Education program during the fall or spring semester of an academic year may be granted through the summer term to meet renewal requirements.

Select need-based scholarships may only be applied toward the completion of a first undergraduate degree. Students may use scholarship funds for professional study (i.e. pharmacy or veterinary medicine) or an Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s (ABM) Program, provided they have not already completed a first undergraduate degree, have years of eligibility remaining, and are eligible for renewal. Students who graduate early are ineligible to receive the balance of unused funds in their final semester and may not apply unused funds to graduate study or a second undergraduate degree.
