Learning Spaces Saturday School - June 2021 Session
Learning Spaces Saturday School met on June 12, 2021 at Pebble Hill for a session about the Creek Indians. These young male scholars acquired information about the Creek Indians who were the original descendants of the land in which Pebble Hill is placed and the Slave Census in Lee County. The young scholars were fascinated by the fact that the slaves did not have names but were assigned numbers. They also recited passages from the letters of Byron Yarbrough (former resident of Pebble Hill) and Betty Jones. Unfortunately Byron was killed on a ship before he had the opportunity to meet Betty.
