Accessibility is the right thing to do! As part of Auburn University’s commitment to ensure that all web content meets Double-A W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, eAccessibility Academy has provided information on the tools you use most. The Office of Accesibility and the Office of Information Technolgoy are always available to answer any questions or to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.


Canvas

Canvas is the official learning management system(LMS) used for instruction at Auburn University by teachers and students. Teachers can communicate with students through Canvas through announcements and email. Teachers can also upload course material to include syllabi, readings, discussion posts, and track student grades. To learn more about Canvas, visit Canvas


Panopto

Panopto features how-to-videos on everything from accessibility to uploading content on Canvas. Using Panopto’s search functions can help instructors learn how to quickly upload course content to include audio captioning, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, tutorials, and so much more. Panopto is free to use with your Auburn University username and password. Simply, sign on and get started today.

The Biggio Center

The Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning or simply The Biggio Center (pronounced Bi-gee-oh) provides support for Auburn’s academic community including faculty, administration, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students with resources, tools, and services in the areas of instructional technology, digital media, active student learning, testing services, and teaching initiatives.

Create an Accessible Syllabus

Simply uploading a Word document to Canvas does not make a syllabus accessible, but thanks to the eAccessibility Academy, you will know how to make your Syllabus accessible for all students. To get started, check out Documents


Create Accessible Articles

Simply uploading an article to Canvas does not make it accessible. That’s right, simply uploading a PDF of a scanned article does not make it web accessible, but thanks to the eAccessibility Academy, you will know how to make a scanned article ready for your students to use online. SiteImprove

SiteImprove is a resource that helps make websites inclusive by providing clear instructions and directions to help run a high-performance website. SiteImprove helps in the areas of accessibility, website testing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). WAVE

WAVE is a Web Accessiblity Evaluation tool that checks your website determine if the web content is accessible for all users. Enter the web page address you would like to test into the search box and WAVE will determine any errors that are present on the web pages including contrast, styles or no styles. While WAVE can test the accessibility of web content, only users can determine the accessibility of a website which includes navigation, responsiveness, usability, and overall satisfaction or dissatisfaction..
