We support student success through orientation courses, learning analytics, and resources tailored to online learners, ensuring engagement, retention, and achievement. Our student success coordinator works to provide ongoing support, and engagement to produce an environment for all learners because there are multiple paths to achievement. The programs that provide specialized support are the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree completer program at Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business, and the Auburn First Dual Enrollment program that offers high school students the opportunity to take official Auburn University courses and earn both college and high school credit at the same time, boasting several program benefits including: rigorous course work that prepares students for Auburn, intentional support, and an enriched path to admission.

Key Responsibilities

Personalized Onboarding and Continuous Support

Each online student is assigned an SSC who serves as their primary point of contact from enrollment through graduation. The SSC assists students with various aspects, including registration, orientation, access to digital course materials, and other educational concerns. They ensure that students are well-prepared for their academic journey and provide ongoing support throughout the program.

Orientation and Early Engagement

The SSC begins working with students during the New Student Online Orientation. This orientation prepares students for success in the online learning environment by covering topics such as managing work/life balance, understanding program expectations, and familiarizing students with university policies. The SSC also schedules a student success meeting before the first term begins to establish a strong support foundation and path to graduation.

Ongoing Academic and Administrative Assistance

Throughout the program, the SSC provides continuous support by assisting with course registration, addressing academic inquiries, and navigating university resources. They act as a liaison between students, faculty and various departments, ensuring that students have access to the necessary resources and information to succeed.

Resource Navigation and Problem Resolution

When students encounter challenges or have questions beyond the SSC's expertise, the coordinator conducts research and connects students with the appropriate department or resource. This proactive approach ensures that students receive timely and accurate assistance, enhancing their overall educational experience.

Dedicated Point of Contact

The SSC remains the student's consistent point of contact throughout their academic journey. This continuity fosters a trusting relationship, allowing students to feel supported and understood as they progress through their online program.

Train the Trainer

Our SCC is an important resource for other Auburn University online programs as they grow to include student success coordinators to support their students. Auburn Online's SCC provides best practices from lessons learned and mentors throughout the first year of implementation.

Overall, the SSC's role is integral to ensuring that online students at Auburn University receive the guidance, resources, and support necessary to achieve academic success and complete their degree programs.
