Lindsey Doukopoulos, Ph.D.
Short Bio
As Associate Director for Educational Development, I lead the Biggio Teaching Unit, a team dedicated to advancing teaching excellence at Auburn through evidence-based programs, faculty leadership development, and innovative teaching support. Our work spans AI in teaching and learning, faculty coaching, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), EASL course development and certification, Course (Re)Design and AUSSI (AU Summer STEM Institute), Preparing Future Faculty, Engaged Teaching, and comprehensive teaching feedback, consultation, and coaching services. We also coordinate the Faculty Fellows Program, a prestigious community of elite faculty who are developing leaders in the teaching of their disciplines.
I am passionate about building community around the challenges and joys of teaching, helping faculty achieve their goals in rewarding and sustainable ways, and fostering creativity so all faculty are empowered to innovate and inspire. I believe the foundational unit of change is dialogue, and I design programs and consultations—including departmental retreats, strategic planning, and curricular change projects—that spark transformative conversations.
Beyond Auburn, I am Past Chair of the Southern Regional Faculty and Instructional Developer Consortium and Past Co-Chair of the POD Network’s Digital Resources and Innovation Committee. I serve on the founding editorial board of Howard University’s new Scholarship of Teaching and Learning journal and am currently developing the first AI Ethics Iron Bowl, a cross-institutional debate competition in collaboration with the University of Alabama. My research explores storytelling as a catalyst for “backstage conversations” and playful pedagogy as a driver of joyful, generative change at every level of the institution.
In addition to leading the Teaching Unit, I have taught courses in creative writing, literature, playwriting, and interdisciplinary honors and graduate seminars on professional development, creativity, and the science of learning.
