Summer Course (Re)Design (CRD) is the Biggio Center’s flagship program that helps faculty from all disciplines create or re-envision one course in preparation for teaching in an active learning space. The program is structured around Dee Fink’s Designing Significant Learning Experiences backward design process.
Faculty will participate in the design of an existing course using backwards design principles and prepare to use active learning in EASL classrooms, spaces around campus, and virtual environments. Faculty will align themselves with others who are fully committed to “making teaching visible” by sharing teaching innovation.
CRD participants are advised to set aside significant time outside the workshop to ensure there is ample time to work on their course and other requirements.
CRD is offered in both face-to-face and online modalities.
Eligible participants include Auburn University faculty of all ranks, adjuncts, part-time instructors, postdocs, instructional staff, and administrators involved in course design or teaching. GTAs leading courses as the Instructor of Record are also welcome.
Priority will be given to faculty, postdocs, and staff who meet eligibility criteria and submit timely applications. Additional spots will be allocated to qualified GTAs as available.
