Eligibility & Enrollment

Active full-time non-student employees are eligible for vision benefits if the most recent appointment period is continuous for a minimum of 12 months (nine months for faculty on a 9-month appointment).

Eyecare providers can verify coverage by contacting MetLife at 1-877-235-5317 and using the employee's name, date of birth, and AU Banner number. The group name is the Auburn University Plan.

Eligible employees must elect coverage within 30 days of date of employment or eligibility, or during the open enrollment period in November of each year. This benefit election cannot be changed or revoked unless there is a change in family status (e.g. marriage, divorce, childbirth, or death of spouse or dependent).
