Welcome to Leading People

Coming to Auburn in early spring 2025, the Leading People program is designed for any Auburn leader serving as a supervisor of one or more team members. This program will provide the tools necessary for supervisors to effectively lead others.    

Supervisors will be equipped to perform basic leadership responsibilities. They will learn how to enable their team members’ full potential, while exploring the essential principles of leading others.

The focus of Leading people will be on the Aspire Auburn core values of excellenceintegrity, and respect and the leadership principles of:

  • Empowering and enabling teammates

  • Developing self and teammates

  • Practicing a service mindset

Through a robust and intentional series of in-person, virtual, and self-paced courses, participants will enhance their ability to lead people with purpose, authenticity, and selflessness. Active participation and commitment to personal growth are essential for successful completion of this course.   

Program Specifics

The Leading People program will empower participants to lead people in a manner that inspires and enables others to achieve their full potential. Supervisors should enable, empower, and encourage people to: 

  • Take pride in their work.

  • Have a sense of purpose in serving a great cause.

  • Be willing to do the necessary work.

  • Recognize the value they bring to Auburn University.

  • Feel a sense of ownership in Auburn University’s success.

  • Analyze Aspire Auburn's core values and leadership principles.     

  • Understand the difference between being a boss and being a leader.   

  • Understand how to enable your team members’ full potential.    

  • Model values, principles, and course concepts in your daily work.   

  • Develop the foundational skills necessary to effectively lead people.   

This course will consist of 19 hours of training that includes 10 in-person classes with live and virtual (via MS Teams) offerings, as well as three self-paced courses. Classes were carefully selected by Auburn University’s Leadership Development Working Group and approved by the Advisory Group.

All classes are provided by Auburn University instructors with one LinkedIn Learning course. Each class is one hour in duration except for the several hour, self-paced law and policies learning path. Once all coursework is complete, learners will be awarded the Auburn University Leading People certificate and badge.
