In rare circumstances, departments may request that existing full-time faculty members teach courses over and above their agreed-upon instructional workload, or an “overload”. In accordance with departmental workload and faculty handbook guidelines, with appropriate approvals and attestations, eligible faculty may receive additional compensation for teaching on an overload basis. 1 : IDENTIFY WORK TO BE DONE

DESCRIPTION: The unit identifies course(s) that are needed and eligible faculty to teach.

ROLES INVOLVED: Department, Faculty member

CURRENT SYSTEMS: Unit determines

DESCRIPTION: The department completes the Request for Teaching Overload Form in compliance with departmental workload/compensation and Faculty Handbook guidelines.

ROLES INVOLVED: Departmental personnel

CURRENT SYSTEMS: Adobe

DESCRIPTION: The completed Overload form is routed for faculty attestation and approval, in order, to the faculty member, faculty member’s DHC, faculty member’s dean, Office of the Provost

ROLES INVOLVED: Faculty Member, Faculty’s DHC, Faculty’s Dean or designee, Provost or Provost’s designee

CURRENT SYSTEMS: Email or AdobeSign

DESCRIPTION: When the Overload form is approved and returned to the department, an Add Overload Job (Faculty) OVLJOB EPAF is submitted. EPAF originator emails the approved Overload form to all EPAF Approvers, referencing the EPAF Transaction Number.

ROLES INVOLVED: HR/financial/administrative assistant

CURRENT SYSTEMS: Banner, Email

DESCRIPTION: When the work is complete the department submits a Termination (Job Only) (TERMJB) EPAF.
