UHR optimizes communication tools to best reach employees

Each unit within University Human Resources relies on HR communications to share relevant and timely information with the Auburn campus.

Here are a few examples of how UHR optimized the use of communications personnel and tools to best reach campus.

  • Social media, emails, an updated website, and other tools were utilized to share information about last year’s Employee Appreciation Week. Since the week featured several new events, UHR sent numerous communications to all employees. UHR also shared dozens of event photos on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, increasing employee engagement throughout the week.

  • In early 2023, Compensation and Classification embarked on an ambitious project to gather job data on all A&P and Staff employees, to ensure that employees are being paid a market competitive salary. UHR worked with HR Liaisons to share communications about the project and the importance of submitting job information. As a result of these efforts, over 95% of employees participated in the project.

  • The introduction of a High Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account option required a robust communications campaign to employees of Auburn and AUM. From targeted emails and town halls to user friendly websites, the Benefits team and all of UHR were committed to ensuring that employees understood the differences between an HDHP and a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan, so they could make the best decisions for themselves and their eligible dependents. Open enrollment engagement was significantly higher this year, and the consensus from employees and supervisors was that they received the information they needed.

  • In late 2023, Payroll launched “It’s About Time”, a newsletter with important reminders and tips about timekeeping, payroll, and records at Auburn. The newsletter is shared with timekeepers, HR Liaisons, and HR staff.
