Diversity Action Plan

Core Implementation Effort and Inclusion Events

In March 2018, OIT leadership established a Core Implementation Team to oversee the creation of a Diversity Action Plan for OIT. This process was part of an initiative being led by the Office of Inclusion & Diversity (OID) which involves improving diversity all across campus.

In an effort to make this plan applicable to everyone, the Core Implementation Team hosted a town hall, sent out anonymous surveys, and made themselves available for one-on-one discussions regarding concerns and suggestions. The team met again with OID and drafted a plan which addresses three main goals:

  • Enhance Staff Recruitment, Development, and Inclusion,
  • Increase and Improve Internal and External Communications,
  • Improve Awareness of, and Access To, New and Existing Services.

This plan was submitted for approval at the end of 2018, but OIT is already taking strides toward embracing this effort. As part of the endeavor to enhance staff inclusion, the plan sets out a goal of having morale boosting events each year. One such event was a Thanksgiving Potluck in November 2018. The tables participated in a contest to create a centerpiece, and the winning team is pictured above posing with Aubie. We look forward to other fun experiences and overall growth as a unit as we implement this plan.
