Project Management Training and Roadmap

The Project Management Office, newly created in 2017, continued to gain traction and improve processes throughout 2018. One undertaking for the office was to host project management training. The classes, referred to as PM101 and PM201 were available to managers, directors, technical leads, and team members to help them understand project tools and methodologies. PM101 addressed the terminology and processes, and it used hands-on exercises to demonstrate the value of project management.

The PM201 class dove in a little further into another major PMO accomplishment which was the implementation of Smartsheet tracking. In the image to the right, you can see a section of a gantt-style chart which shows the timeline of various projects happening in OIT. This tool allows the PM team to optimize how they work on projects, who needs to be involved, and when they will be worked on and completed. In addition to Smartsheet, the PM201 class also outlined the OIT/PMO business processes for project intake through to project delivery.
