Computing Labs and Digital Workspaces

Computer stations in the RBD Library

Computing labs and digital workspaces allow students and researchers to access various programs from anywhere on campus without having to purchase specific computers or expensive software licenses. These processes also facilitate research projects from anywhere in the world.

In 2018, OIT added 122 new virtual workspace machines which brings our grand total up to 924. Together, all the clusters of machines have a total of 9.75 TB of memory. Click here to see a list of lab locations and hours.

Here are some numbers that put these digital workspaces into perspective:

  • 94,219 sessions connected throughout 2018
  • 850 is the most connections in a single day
  • 360 is the average number of connections each workday
  • 222 is the highest number of concurrent connections in 2018

Innovation can happen when you have an environment that lets you collaborate and develop ideas, and that's easier with digital workspaces!
